Born in Sydney in 1965, I was always a bit of a problem child with too much energy and constantly on the go. My poor mother! I often wonder how she coped! I am the eldest of three girls, with just 3 years between us.
I began dancing, acrobatics and gymnastics when I was 7 years old. By the time I had entered high school I was dancing every evening and had gymnastics & acrobatics training all weekend. I excelled at most subjects at school but mostly maths, science and art.
At the end of year 10 I applied for a position at a highly competitive Graphic Design college. At only 15, I was the youngest person ever to be accepted into their program. Within a very short time I had been offered a full time job with an exclusive art studio. On-the-job training in that industry in the early 80’s was so much more valuable than 2 years of college. I began full time work the day after my 16th birthday.
The opportunity arose in my early 20’s to audition for a major stage show opening at Jupiter's Casino. I became part of the cast of "Galaxies" in 1987. After 2 years the show finished its run, making way for the new production which had no need for acrobats. I moved to North Queensland and started work in the Graphic Design industry again.
In 1991 my daughter, Layla, was born. I started going to the local gym to loose some of the post pregnancy weight and within 6 months had begun to compete in aerobics competitions. I won every competition I entered in the following 2 years and needed more of a challenge. We moved to Brisbane, just a week after Layla's 2nd birthday.
Once settled in Brisbane I started training for the State and National Aerobic Championships. In '94 I placed second at the States and 6th at the Nationals while a year later I came 3rd at the Australian Aerobic Championships. Not bad going considering the girl that won was 3 times world champion.
I began more serious weight training after getting into Gladiators as a challenger at the end of 1995. I soon realised how much I loved training with weights and made the decision to start bodybuilding in February 1996.
12 years later and my whole life revolves around the sport. I am not currently competing but using my knowledge to help other competitors achieve awesome results. My small, part time hobby has grown into Australias largest and most successful Total Onstage Preparation service.
I would love to get back on stage in the near future, but at moment I will continue competing through the achievements of my wonderful girls and guys!
